  • Course Overview
Mechanical engineers are responsible for the design and manufacture of the majority of products around us. Creating products that are smarter, cheaper and more environmental friendly is a key challenge for modern mechanical engineers. Energy is another important sector where the requirement of Mechanical engineers is very well needed. They identify new sources of alternative energy and develop energy efficient systems for power production and transmission. The scope of this course is to provide technical competence in the areas of thermal, design, manufacturing and industrial engineering. The knowledge and skills given to the students cater them to the higher levels in the industry, academia and research.
  • Course Breakup
The curriculum prepares prospective graduates in Mechanical engineering for beginning their professional career or for more advanced studies.
    I Year
Students learn the basic subjects related to Mechanical engineering like
    Engineering graphics
    Engineering Mechanics
Basics of Electrical and Electronics engineering
    Fundamentals of computing.
    II Year
Concentrates on foundation subjects of Mechanical Engineering like
    Thermodynamics
    Fluid Mechanics
    Strength of Materials
    Kinematics of Machines
    Material Science and metallurgy
    Manufacturing technology
    III Year
Students augment knowledge on application subjects of Mechanical Engineering like
    Thermal engineering
    Heat and Mass transfer
    Dynamics of machines
Design of machine elements and transmission systems
    Metrology and measurements
    IV year
Focuses more on industry oriented subjects and recent trends in Mechanical engineering like
    Production planning and control
    Process planning and cost estimation
    Finite element Analysis
    Power plant engineering
The students will do an industry or research based project applying their ideas, knowledge and skills.
  • Career Opportunities
As one of the oldest and broadest engineering branches, Mechanical Engineering involves designing, development, production and use of mechanical tools to solve mechanical issues. Generally hired by manufacturing industries, these engineers have employment opportunities in private sectors like TVS, FORD, HUNDAI, ASHOKLEYLAND; Government sectors like Defense, Railways, SAIL, BHEL, They also have equal opportunities in abroad.
