ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Textile Technology was established in the year 2024. It offers a four-year B.Tech Fashion Technology programme. The department is well known for state-of-the-art laboratory facilities as well as experienced and highly qualified faculty. The members of the faculty possess rich teaching, research, and industrial experience. They have published more than 30 papers in leading national and peer-reviewed international journals and actively participate in seminars and conferences.

The spacious laboratories are well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in Yarn Manufacture, Fabric Manufacture, Textile Chemical Processing, and Textile Testing. The Department library is facilitated with a good collection of books and journals with internet connectivity, in addition to the central library (Learning Centre) facility.

The textile industry in India is heading towards a drastic change aimed at remarkable progress and development. In order to fulfil the utmost needs of this industry, a great responsibility lies on the technical institutions that impart textile education to train technocrats and enable them to contribute their best. In this direction, the Department of Fashion Technology is vigorously marching towards the pursuit of technical excellence in textile education.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

The Bachelor of Fashion Technology curriculum is designed to prepare undergraduates to:
– Have the attitude and knowledge for a successful professional and technical career.
– Have a strong foundation in basic sciences, engineering, management, mathematics, and computational platforms.
– Have knowledge of theory and practice in the field of fashion manufacturing technology and allied areas.

The Fashion Technology graduates will have the ability to:
– Understand and apply fundamental and technical knowledge for managing fashion manufacturing industries.
– Be successful entrepreneurs and designers in textile and clothing sectors.
– Design and develop novel products and manufacturing processes in fashion‑related fields.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

The Fashion Technology graduates will have the ability to:

1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, sciences, engineering, textile, and fashion technology to obtain solutions for technological problems in fashion and garment industries.

2. Identify, formulate, review literature, and critically analyze technological problems in the textile and fashion industries to reach substantiated conclusions.

3. Design and develop solutions to the technological and managerial problems in fashion and garment industries with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental factors.

4. Use research‑based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions to technological problems in the fashion‑ and textile‑based garment industry.

5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools for managing garment manufacturing companies with an understanding of limitations.

6. Apply reasoning gained through contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the profession.

7. Understand the impact of developed solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge for sustainable development.
