  • Course Overview
Department of Mechanical engineering offers a two year post graduate M.E course in CAD/CAM keeping in mind the growing importance of application of computers in the field of Mechanical engineering. The course teaches the students how to apply the computer tools in the creation, design, improvement, analysis of mechanical products, processes and systems and in the field of manufacturing. The students specialize the subjects like Computer aided design, computer integrated manufacturing, finite element analysis etc.
  • Course Breakup
    I Year
Studying the subjects related to CAD/CAM like
    Integrated Mechanical design
Finite element applications in Manufacturing engineering
    Integrated Product and process development
Design for manufacturing, assembly and environment
    Computer control in process planning
    Industrial robotics and expert system
    II year
Concentrates on advanced subjects in CAD/CAM like
    Data communication in CAD/CAM
Performance modeling and analysis of manufacturing system
    Design for Cellular manufacturing system
Design of hydraulic and pneumatic system
    Tribology in design
The students have to do a project for two semesters (Phase I and II) based on innovative idea or recent research in any one area of CAD/CAM.
  • Career Opportunities
CAD/CAM students are sought after by many research establishments (like DRDO, NAL, BARC, ISRO, etc.), and industries (like GE, BHEL, NTPC, KOEL, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra, Tats Motors, L&T, Reliance, etc.). Some of the students, out of their passion go for Ph. D. in a specialized area or teaching profession .
